The Well Healing Studio at the Historical Emanuel Alston House


The Well Healing Studio operates from the historical Emanuel Alston House built ca 1915 in the heart of the Gullah community on Saint Helena Island just minutes from Downtown Beaufort and on the way to Hunting Island State Park and Beach between Dawtaw and Fripp Islands. The property is spacious and surrounded by trees backing into the woods. Mother Nature is all around in abundance. While sitting on the front porch, families of red birds, turkey hens and deer can often be spotted roaming around while you listen to the whispers of the winds through the trees. Even on the hottest summer days there’s an intoxicating coastal breeze. The house is quiet, quaint and filled with quirky character on the inside where the energy is always warm welcoming and very comfortable. Laid-back low-country style at its finest!

Meet "The Body Mechanic"

Massage therapist Tracie L. Brooke received her training at Cortiva Institute-Tuscon, formerly Desert Institute of The Healing Arts. She holds a South Carolina and Florida license in addition to being board certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork.

Tracie has been in private practice serving Beaufort County, SC residents since 2013.  She has professional working relationships with area chiropractors, personal trainers, acupuncturists, and coordinates with other healthcare providers to offer clients a "Wellness Team" approach to their issues. Tracie's long-term clients affectionately refer to her as, "The Body Mechanic" and include bodywork and massage "tune-ups" as part of their ongoing wellness strategies.

The Body Mechanic offers a unique massage style designed to promote your body’s own healing mechanisms by integrating clinical medical massage techniques, experienced caring hands and an intuitive energy. Each body is beautifully original so each massage/bodywork session is uniquely designed and personalized to meet your specific needs and goals. Tracie is passionate about therapeutic bodywork and massage as a vital part of any wellness program. She shares her knowledge about body mechanics to educate and empower you to control your own discomforts and pain on a daily basis at home/office.

About Your Session

Important Tips for Your Session.


  1. Please read the following important information and tips to maximize your experience.   There are things you can do to prepare your body and reduce any possible of discomforts during or after your session.  
  2. When you book your appointment please check your email.  You will be sent an email “invitation” to your appointment.  When you accept (respond yes) to the appointment you will receive automated reminder notices (1-2) days  prior to your appointment.  Please contact if you need to make a change in your appointment.  
  3. A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule your appointment.  If you are unable to give proper notice you will be responsible for the full session fee if your time can not be refilled with another client.  Life happens and our plans often change so please don’t delay in changing your appointment if needed.  No calls and no shows will not be rescheduled until the full session fee is paid.  Failure to attend a scheduled appointment with the intent on redeeming a gift certificate will result in the forfeiting of that certificate.  Cancellations due to illness and medical emergencies will be handled on a case by case basis.    
  4. Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! Please drink extra plain water prior to your appointment (as well as after.) As well, it’s best to limit your intake of caffeine, soda, and alcohol a few days prior to your appointment.  Especially during warmer temperatures our bodies need extra water to keep us moving.  Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!    
  5. Boost your immune system with extra fruits and vegetables in the days prior to (and after) your appointment.   Please refrain from eating a full meal before a session.  Don’t starve yourself prior to a session; eat light and avoid heavy breads, dairy, and fried foods. Please avoid taking pain medications/relievers and muscle relaxers prior to your session.  
  6. Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first appointment to complete a medical intake form and use the restroom so that your appointment may begin promptly on time.  If you have a list of medications please   bring a copy to attach to your records.   Please be on time for all your appointments so that you get the full value of your session.  
  7. Communication is the key to an amazing experience! Before the session, please give accurate health history information and include your treatment goals. It’s important to note any previous falls, accidents, and surgeries.  During the session, please report any discomfort or sensations you might experience and ask questions as needed.  Don’t be afraid to discuss any apprehensions or concerns. It’s important that you be as comfortable as possible during your session. Tracie is committed to your well-being and creating a comfortable, safe, educational and positive experience.  
  8. Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! After your session it’s import to drink extra water to flush the stored up toxins in the body out of your system.  Water helps reduce residual soreness. Tracie may also make other suggestions regarding specific stretches and strengthening routines that may benefit your healing and overall well-being.
